1856 (20 Jun) EL from London to N.J. Butterworth, Bermuda with London Paid cds overstruck by inspectors mark also boxed Liverpool ds and h/s '1d' rate mark applied in Liverpool (?). Rated 6d and endorsed, 'Via Halifax.' Interesting contents from the owners of a ship, 'The Mary Thomson,' bound for Bermuda suggesting possibilities for the captain once he has discharged his cargo, 'It is just possible you might be able to obtain a convict freight for this vessel....or she might go to the Turks Islands & load salt for Baltimore taking freight thence to Demerary.'
