xii + 330pp + publisher's catalogue. 1st ed., fine in later half calf with marbled boards.
Written by an Englishman who visited Dominica in the 1790's where he served in public office. Gives a good description of island life and the military actions against the Maroons and the French including their attack on Roseau in 1805 and the mutiny of the 8th West India Regiment at Prince Ruperts Bay. Later he visited Montserrat and St Kitts. Very scarce.
