The first 4 vols. of this series containing many engraved views and some early coloured prints as well as early examples of tipped in photographs.

viii + 371pp. 2nd ed., mostly clean in old half maroon calf. Frontispiece with tipped in photographic portrait. Inscription on first page, 'L. Wright. Given to him Jan 22nd 1871 by Major Billington 6th Inniskilling dragoons.' Full author's name 'Pemberton' added to title page in ink.
The author fought in the Franco Prussian war and died at the battle of Sedan.

viii + 134pp + 14 hand coloured mounted albumen photographs by Cundall and Fleming depicting some of Mulready's most memorable paintings. Some minor stains in bottom margin only otherwise clean in worn and damaged original green cloth, binding cracked but no pages loose.
