All maps and prints are guaranteed originals.  I do not sell reproductions.

Collecting maps and prints is becoming increasingly difficult as sources of supply dry up.  My stock is mostly concentrated on the Caribbean. You will also find old photographs and posters here. I am keen to purchase fine engraved West Indies prints and C17th and C18th Caribbean maps.

Post and packing is extra.  Orders are packed carefully and covered by my insurance.    Costs are kept to a  minimum. Payment can be made by credit card (VISA or Mastercard), Sterling or U.S. dollar cheque.

Images have been cropped close to the frame of the map to keep file sizes reasonably small.  Actual margins will be greater unless noted in the description

BYRES John Plan of the Island of Bequia laid down by the actual survey under the Direction of the Honourable the Commissioners for the Sale of Lands in the Ceded Islands By John Byres Chief Surveyor 1776. I. Bayly Scupt London
BYRES John Plan of the Island of Bequia laid down by the actual survey under the Direction of the Honourable the Commissioners for the Sale of Lands in the Ceded Islands By John Byres Chief Surveyor 1776. I. Bayly Scupt London

London. Republished 14 July 1794 by Robert Wilkinson No. 58 Cornhill
Engraved map with hand colouring 24.5 x 37" Very fine condition with couple of repairs in margin only. (MCS 16)
This is the second state of two. Bequia, the northernmost of the Grenadines was one of the 'ceded' islands acquired by Britain through the Treat of Paris, 1763. The island is shown divided into 36 tracts, 17 claimed by owners, mostly French planters whose claims predated 1763 but with 19 identified as being unclaimed. This was one of four maps produced by Byres of the 'ceded' islands. It is arguably the most significant, as it is one of only three separately printed maps of Bequia, and by far the most detailed. Only a handful of copies of either editions of the map are found in institutions, and it rarely comes onto the market.
