Clean and attractive. The letter slightly trimmed at right but readable.
Part of a correspondence from the Newton family who owned estates in Barbados.
|1752 (25 Jun) EL from Simon Hunter in Barbados to James Smith in Edinburgh, redirected to Cupar Angus|
with London Bishop mark and several rate marks. Fine.
Long letter about D. Henry Smith, a young man who arrived in Barbados a year before and has struggled to make ends meet. An early letter from the island.

addressed to 'Monsieur Gillot,' containing two page letter. No postal markings.
Sent during the first period of French occupation of the island.

Letter exhorting recipient to abuse the franking privilege as it has been costing the writer 2/6d a letter.

Long detailed letter re banking and 'Bond of Corroboration.'

Addressed to 'Mr Robert Driffield, Briggate, York,' with letter from his child sending linen for washing, probably a boarder at the grammar school.

Contains order for Madeira wine for persons in Jamaica giving details of the quantities and port of delivery. Fine. 2pp.
