Hamilton s/l mark, London Paid h/s and s/l ANGLETERRE h/s. Fine.
Long and fascinating letter to the Duke who at the age of 60 was embarked on a grand tour of Europe giving details of the affairs of the estate. 'Our tenants continue in quiet distress - I can get no money from them.'

1831 'ST VINCENT AUG 21 1831' large fleuron without final 'S'

on EL to William Fitzhugh in London, rated 2/2d and with London cds on reverse. Fine.
Contains 3pp Monthly Report for Richmond Vale estate with details of repairs to buildings, 'Tradesmen putting up the negro houses which were blown down and destroyed during the hurricane of the 11th instant.' Also details of several negroes who had died in the hurricane.
