GB 3d plate 16 tied by fine BATH duplex. San Francisco Paid All cds in red at left and Liverpool cds b/stamp. Addressed to Commander Cookson, H.M.S. Peterel, care of British Consul, San Francisco. Fine.
When this letter reached San Francisco HMS Peterel was at Acapulco, Mexico and then 3 days later left for Panama. The consul, who was also the British Post Office Agent would have forwarded the letter per closed bag to Panama. Ex Harper.

Carried by two seaplanes of the United States Naval Air Station at Miami on a demonstration flight to Nassau. Approx. 600 pieces carried. The first successful ocean flight.
