Light foxing throughout in old half calf with marbled boards. Octavo. Also facsimile letter from Sir Thomas Staines describing Pitcairn Island in 1814. A fascinating account by an officer in the Royal Marines on the H.M. Frigate Briton, including much on the mutiny of the Bounty, including an interview with the last survivor on Pitcairn Island. Shillibeer recorded what he saw in fine etchings he made on the spot, including views of Rio de Janeiro, Lima, Juan Fernandez, Callao, and Santa Christina, as well as a portrait of Friday Fletcher October Christian.
