GRIMSTON FAWKES Lionel Port au Prince, Haiti. 1882 Watercolour on paper, two sheets joined at centre. Fine. 14 x 5" This British artist was a Colonel in the Royal Artillery. He was the grandson of J.M.W. Turner's patron Walter Fawkes, and served as ADC to General Gamble, C-in-C West Indies, from 1878-1884.
