3pp letter from Mr McFee (at Cane Garden) to T.A. Curtis in London concerning the sugar estate, 'a very short crop indeed but one of the best from the Island in proportion to our strength, 165 apprentices' and 'The Colonial Office sent out instructions by the last Packet but only requiring more time to be given to the apprentices. Our Legislature granted them 19 more working days in all 134 days a year. I fear the term of apprenticeship will soon be done away with altogether and perhaps the sooner the better for the proprietors.
