Postage stamps, booklets, flight, censored and maritime mail and philatelic covers of Grenada for sale.

Collecting Grenada stamps seems to have become more popular in the last few years.  When I started the business back in 1982 I found it very hard to sell and was told the island had been out of favour ever since producing the surcharge stamp issues of the 1880s which were seen by Victorian philatelists as unnecessary.  Many of the classic stamps still have very low catalogue values.

Postal history collectors can find a reasonable quantity of pre stamp covers on the market and for postmark collectors there are the Parish letter cancels.

There is no up to date handbook on Grenada philately.  The classic stamp issues are covered in Sefis The postage stamps of Grenada and Charltons The postal history and stamps of Grenada is also useful.  Postal history collectors should see Dan Walkers Grenada postal history 1764-1913 work which is actually a photocopy of his written up collection.

CAMPBELL John Candid and Impartial Considerations on the Nature of the Sugar Trade; The Comparative Importance of the British and French Islands in the West-Indies: with The Value and Consequence of St. Lucia and Granada, truly stated. London: Printed for R. Baldwin in Pater-noster Row. 1763 228pp + 3 hand coloured folding maps. 1st ed., minor tears to two of the maps without loss, later end papers otherwise fine in old full calf binding with recent spine. This work is a classic in the field of colonial and Caribbean literature, embodying as it does one of the clearest statements of eighteenth century philosophy regarding the relations which should exist between a metropole and its outlying possessions. (Ragatz) Written just after Britain had acquired Grenada and St Lucia from France following the Peace of Paris.
