Showing items in Stamps and Covers - St Vincent

Postage stamps, booklets, flight, censored and maritime mail and philatelic covers of St Vincent for sale.

St Vincent has always been popular with stamp collectors.  The classic issues in such rich colours make a spectacular collection.  The village postmarks of St Vincent have been actively collected for much longer than most countries.

There is little to interest the postal history collector in the pre stamp period but a high degree of specialisation is possible in other areas.  Registration marks, labels and rates, early air mail rates and maritime mail.

All St Vincent stamp collectors should possess a copy of the fine handbook by Pierce, Messenger and Lowe, 'St Vincent, the postal history, cancellations, postage stamps and revenue stamps.'

Post and packing is extra but does not increase however many items are ordered.  Inland £1, Europe £1.50 and Overseas £2

BYRES John Plan of the Island of Bequia laid down by the actual survey under the Direction of the Honourable the Commissioners for the Sale of Lands in the Ceded Islands By John Byres Chief Surveyor 1776. I. Bayly Scupt London London. Republished 14 July 1794 by Robert Wilkinson No. 58 Cornhill Engraved map with hand colouring 24.5 x 37" Very fine condition with couple of repairs in margin only. (MCS 16) This is the second state of two. Bequia, the northernmost of the Grenadines was one of the 'ceded' islands acquired by Britain through the Treat of Paris, 1763. The island is shown divided into 36 tracts, 17 claimed by owners, mostly French planters whose claims predated 1763 but with 19 identified as being unclaimed. This was one of four maps produced by Byres of the 'ceded' islands. It is arguably the most significant, as it is one of only three separately printed maps of Bequia, and by far the most detailed. Only a handful of copies of either editions of the map are found in institutions, and it rarely comes onto the market.
